A letter to the people:
Grace and Peace be unto you Gods chosen.
First, I would like to thank you all for making October 14, 2017 one of the most awesome days of my life in ministry. This was an historical and pivotal elevation and assignment from God our Father for me and my new church home, New Horizon Baptist Church. We do realize that this is a high calling from God, and I am truly humbled that God would call me to such a calling. He truly knows how to do all things well. To all my fellow yoke men in the clergy, I esteem you high and appreciate your willingness to be a part of this momentous occasion. You have all played an important part of my life and development of my ministry in some capacity. To all visiting loved ones and friends, to see you there on that special day, was truly overwhelming, words could never express the love that I have for you. Thanks so much for taking time out of your personal and busy schedules, it will never be forgotten.
And to my family: Dad, Denise (sister), Ron (brother), FaithAnn (sister), and Tyshon (brother), wow!! What can I say? Look what God has done; I love you with all of my heart. God has a great plan for all of our lives. Thanks for sharing your love with me, and not to mention the gift (a clergy robe) that was awesome!! To my beloved mother the late Missionary, Marie M. Matlock, what an awesome woman of God and mother. She planted a seed of faith in me as a young child and spoke words of life into me no matter what it looked like. Thanks mom, faith works and what God’s word says will always come to pass. You always said that this day would come for Michelle and me, and so here we are. What an awesome God!!
To my new NHBC Family, what a mighty God we serve. When we first met we felt a connection, but didn’t think that God would bring us to this point. I was just glad to be of service to you with a Godly fellowship. Your desire for the word of God, and your hunger for spiritual growth and truth was encouraging. There is so much potential for the spirit of God to take us to deeper depths and higher heights in Jesus Christ. So I say thank you for trusting God with your decision to choose me to be your under Sheppard and Pastor. I am humbled and know that it is all in God’s plan for all of our lives. So I pray that you’ll follow me as I follow Christ. Remember Psalm 100:3, Know that the Lord himself is God it is He who has made us, and not we ourselves, we are his people and the sheep of His pasture. The best is yet to come. “Come experience the Love and the Power of God”. There is no doubt in my mind that greatness is in this house. So thank you for putting your hands to the plow in making this Installation Service a total success. It was simply awesome!!
To my lovely wife, First Lady Michelle, and my two sons Albert III (Trey) and Emmanuel (Manny) you are my biggest inspiration. My love and gratitude for you in insurmountable. God has blessed me with an awesome family. Thank you for being who you are in Christ. God is our source and He’ll never leave us nor forsake us, He’ll be with us until the day of Jesus Christ.
So to you all I say, as God has led you to call and elect me Albert C. Matlock, Jr. as your Pastor, and you do promise that you will uphold me in prayer, affirming my leadership with support and commitment, joining together in fulfilling the mission of God our Father and Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I promise to study to show myself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth. To Pastor this flock of God, and uphold you in prayer, To preach the word without compromise, be instant in season, out of season, reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine, As God gives me strength. Again I say, “thank you all”.
